Passing of the Torch...

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to reach out to all of our IB Commander Family and thank you all for the support over the last two years.  The first 5 years of the IB Program at Ed White High School have been tumultuous and in a state of constant change, but equally rich in major success stories.  As many of you already know, I will be resigning my position as IB Coordinator (at the end of this school year) to move closer to home for the sake of my growing family.  I have shared the many joys and struggles of the program with my IB Family, but the time has come for me to move on.

Stepping up to lead the next generation of great IB Commanders is Mrs. Karine Jones.  Mrs. Jones has been a part of the IB Program since its infancy; teaching French and Theory of Knowledge along the way.  I will serve as an adviser to Mrs. Jones until she masters her role as the IB Coordinator. In addition, she will have a strong supporting faculty and administrative team that will continue to harbor the same vision of what the IB Program can be at Ed White.

I wish you all the best of luck as you continue down your path of greatness!

Sincerely,

Ben Carter

 CAS:

Seniors should be finishing up their CAS Projects and Activities - a graduation requirement under Program of Study I.  The last day to complete CAS Work on Managebac will be May 20th - this will allow Mr. Carter to review before submission.

Graduation Stoles:

IB Senior Graduation Stoles have been ordered  for all seniors and are $30.  Students can pay via check or cash.  All monies will be collected by Mr. Carter.  Monies not collected by May 12th will result in being added to the student's debt list with the bookkeeper.  Students will receive their IB Stoles at the End of the Year Banquet.

End of the Year Banquet:

Invitations were distributed through the student's English Classes this morning.  We are asking that all students and families that will be attending bring a covered dish.  The IB Boosters will be providing the main dish - fried chicken.  PLEASE RSVP BY MAY 12TH.  This can be done by contacting Mrs. Lynn Higginbotham via phone at (904) 693-9235 or returning the invitation to Mr. Carter on Campus.  We would like to have an accurate count so that we don't go home with any leftovers :-)

In addition to eating, we will also be recognizing our IB Learner Profile Award recipients, IB Students of the Year, and our Graduating Seniors of the Class of 2015.

Looking forward to finishing the year strong!

Mr. Carter
IB Coordinator
